Pokemon ruby remake or sequel

Recent rumors of a remake sound amazing as it is but what if the game you also had was followed by extras and new missions contests and all you loved about ruby and sapphire plus more. The game seems to be making a lot of waves and nothings set in stone but personally I like the idea of having a good sequel to a great game.
